Come volunteer with us! The volunteer program at the Greening Australia Nursery is what keeps the nursery operating! A diverse group of volunteers, both young and old and from all walks of life donate their time and expertise to the nursery – some for two hours a month and others up to 25 hours a week! There is always room for more volunteers as there is always more to be done, including: native seed collecting on field trips, preparing seed for propagation, potting up seedlings, weeding as well as administrative chores.
Volunteers work in whatever activity they prefer, at your own pace, whenever you want to visit. For many, the nursery is a place to make friends and socialise with like-minded people.
In the past 6 years, in Queensland, we have protected 356,423 ha of remnant vegetation, planted 3.3 million native plants, logged 478,000 hrs of volunteer work, erected 1,350 kms of fencing, improved 261,000 ha of habitat, provided info in response to 230,500 enquiries, removed 311,000 m3 of weeds from bushland, given away 53,000 free trees and supported over 600 rural property managers.
So, come volunteer with us and be part of it all! Just come along to the nursery or send us your details and a Greening Australia representative will contact you shortly.
